NOCHE DE SAN JUAN
"EL JUA DE NIEVE" 2010

Con motivo de la celebración de la clásica noche de san Juan, El artista Chico Repullo lleva a cabo una performance en el Club de playa “La Playa Summer Club”, ayudado por el escultor Jesús Vez. La puesta en escena supuso un fuerte contraste entre una cálida noche de verano y el aspecto gélido que trasmite el material empleado en la intervención. Al tratarse de un material altamente tóxico, no pudo quemarse para conformar la hoguera, razón por la cual el artista optó por un golpe de efecto, un tanto transgresor, para provocar al espectador. Una vez terminada la figura taurina, los artistas simulan la suerte de matar introduciendo el estoque en la pieza, por la que comienza a brotar un líquido rojo que simula la sangre del animal, produciéndose un fuerte contraste entre el blanco del material y el color rojo.

ST. JOHN'S EVE: “THE SNOW JU(d)AS”

Celebrating St. John’s Eve the artist Chico Repullo, helped by sculptor Jesús Vez, carries out a performance at “La Playa Summer Club”. The staged act had a contrast between the warm night and the gelid aspect of the material used in the show. Due to the high toxicity of the material it was impossible to burn it in the traditional St. Jon’s Eve bonfire, so the artist chose to offer a sort of final transgressor dramatic effect, to provoke the viewers. Once the bull had been finished, both artists pretended to kill the animal by stabbing the sculpture with a rapier; a red liquid simulating blood springs up from the animal and that produces a strong contrast, between the white material and the red color.
